MISSION The purpose of the Association for the Preservation of Geneseo (APOG) is to preserve, improve, and restore the places of civic, architectural, and historic interest to Geneseo, Livingston County, New York and to educate members of the community to their architectural and historical heritage. Additional aims and purposes are to encourage others to contribute their knowledge, advice, and financial assistance. NATIONAL HISTORIC LANDMARK Formed in 1974 and granted an absolute charter by the Board of Regents for and on behalf of the State Education Department, APOG's many accomplishments have been for the betterment of our community. In 1991, the Geneseo Historic District was designated a National Historic Landmark by the U.S. Secretary of the Interior making Geneseo one of only twenty-some so designated in the country.
